Some of my best college memories are getting loaded with my roommates and friends and playing Heroes Unlimited for 12 hours straight. Nothing compares to min maxxing your character to try and mess up the narrative the DM spent his time making.

Im trying arkham horror for the 4th time tonight, since it takes forever and im smoking some ribs and sausage anyway. Im hoping to win and not have the party wiped out again like the first 3 times.

The majority of Great Old Ones are too OP to beat. So you need to win the game before they appear.

Apart from that you should funnel stuff into expert roles, like one guy for physical (and/or magical) combat who just runs around the streets killing monsters so the rest can move freely. Can get a bit boring for players who don't get lucky with stuff.

I don't know if it's in the official rules, but we always let the next player read the encounter card's text to the current player, so it's a bit more entertaining. And the current player doesn't know the outcomes of the rolls/decisions prior to deciding.

I only have Eldritch Horror, is Arkham significantly harder? I can squeeze out victories about half of the time with Eldritch.

It's probably the same difficulty level, we just had less attempts since we started college and work and so on :marseyzizek:

I'm running my online 3.5e game tonight. The party has recently returned to Stormreach from the depths of the jungle of Xen'drik and are resupplying before setting out in search of long-lost artifacts to sell to Morgrave University yet again. I have an awesome dungeon prepped for them, can't wait to kill half of them with one encounter (again).

I'm glad you asked!

It's online and not super plot-centric, so I have a bunch of players and operate under the assumption I'll never be able to get more than 75% of them to show up to any given session.

Lesser aasimar cleric 5, Karrnathi worshipper of the Blood of Vol. He's an aasimar because he was born while Irian was coterminous.

Human fighter 6/rogue 5, Stormreach native master hunter. Uses a repeating heavy crossbow because he's a badass.

Dwarf fighter 6/exotic weapons master 3/dwarven defender 2. Uses a spiked chain because he's a badass.

Dwarf rogue 3/silver key 3. He's a Kundarak who's on bad terms with the family and is out adventuring in order to make his own independent wealth. He has an NPC companion I will describe next.

Blue (psychic goblin subrace) weretoad with no class (he uses exclusively toad hit dice). An abomination against God that I will try to kill before he has enough toad HD to swallow people whole.

Lizardman 3, only racial hit dice so far. Planning on going into monk next level.

Human barbarian 4/fighter 2/frenzied berserker 1. Aundarian veteran who fled to Xen'drik to avoid being hung for his genocide campaign against gnomes during the Last War. He has two NPC companions I will describe next.

Human soldier (homebrew class for the campaign) 5/psychic warrior 1. A Cyran war criminal who was a highwayman in the Mournland before being reverse-kidnapped by the barbarian and pressed into service. Possessed by a quori after drawing the Flames card from the Deck of Many things. None of the PCs know this.

Yuan-ti pureblood 6, only racial hit dice so far. Planning on going into fighter next level. The sole female party member, pressed into s*x slavery by the barbarian after he saved her from a swarm of scorpions.

Half-elf paladin 5/gray guard 1. Thranish worshipper of the Silver Flame, currently dead. Going to be revived at the start of tonight's session, as the last session was spent tracking down a valuable enough diamond to use as the material component for Raise Dead.

There's a pretty big graveyard folder of dead characters, and two characters currently imprisoned within the Lair of the Keeper via the Deck of Many Things.
