In the Yugitard community there had been lots of complaints by losers like me that a lot of modern card art had been too much generic waifubait animegurls, and not enough monsters for the monster cards, but KONAMI follows the money, and money follows the coomers :coomer: :marseycoomer2: :marseycoomer: :marseynut:

Many of the older art had been more monsterous, ghosts, zombies, hydras, mythic creatures from europe or asia, but the past decade more waifu shit had been released in archtypes cuz they sell more cards . It's so obvious too

I will say, as much as modern Yugioh has become a novel baked into every card's text, I do very much like the approach Konami is doing with adapting the oldest cards into the new age. Some of the monsters are now spell/trap cards which are much more thematically accurate.

I wouldn't call traptrix "sexualizing children", most of the more small / "loli" types are in proper clothing and aren't in some coom pose. There's a few exceptions like arachnocampa who has these weird straps for clothing and allomerus with clothing that exposes the upper chest and stomach. The other more inappropriate ones look like actual adults though.

I like the default traptrix mat, wouldn't call it too coomer, it features two main cards. The plants around them make the mat a bit busy with imagery but considering these mats are just two cards it does pretty good.

I prefer the regional 2020 mat though.
