My collection was worth roughly 25k tcg low in 2021. It's probably worth 10k now. Will probably be 1k by 2025. I can't think of a single game or organization more infested with woke cute twinks. In 3 short years they took a 30 year old game and destroyed the community, gameplay, and collectable market and I hate them for it.
Card games come and go with the new generation in cycles. Just cause pokemon is the zoomer(and groomers) choice now doesn't mean mtg won't make a comeback at some point, but it probably won't be soon either.

I've heard a lot of hype about Pokémon lately, is it really that popular to play? I gave up on magic a while ago but I wouldn't mind picking up a new tcg.
That's terrible man. I used to play a lot and hit up every tournament I could until I had a $2000 modern deck stolen at one. That loss pretty much ruined my interest in playing so I get it.
Probably about 5k. A lot of value was inflated with coronadollars, but the real damage has come from reprinting everything and product fatigue. Add to the mix that game stores were unable to host events due to the coof which resulted in less people playing physical magic. Not only did demand for singles dry up, but the stores went out of business so now there's nowhere to play sanctioned events. And unfortunately WOTCs fix for all this is to reprint everything of value, distribute through Amazon, and make all of the characters gay, ugly, and black.

some of the stuff will retain and or accrue value but most of it is done for yeah. By some of the stuff I mean the really old cards, limited run and misprints. Everything else will just keep declining as the playerbase declines. As per usual every company tries to pander to an audience that has no real interest in your product. Only screeching online about wrongthink 24/7
Yea I played a lot of modern so I had an incredible collection of most T1 T2 decks at the time. But those don't really count as old and they aren't reserved list so they can and have been reprinted into oblivion. Not to mention Modern Horizons which power crept former staples into obscurity. Best illustration is probably modern jund.
2016 Price => 2023 Price
================
Tarmogoyf: $150 => $17
Dark Confidant: $50 => $10
Liliana of the Veil: $108 => $13
Not including the fetch and manlands. Also comparing same print prices, modern printings are even cheaper.

How can it make a comeback if you're only allowed to play with official cards, and all the cards available to players are hypergay and lame?
Surely the future will be VR Hearthstone

I've never seen anyone actually play Pokémon. People collect the shit out of it but I've never seen anyone playing the game.

That's your own fault for leaving it laying around instead of securing it safely inside your buttcrack.

I haven't played paper magic in years, but seeing how much stuff like the original fetchlands have dropped in price is pretty surprising.
