Yes, Krieg regiment of the Imperial Guard. They resemble WWI German soldiers but they aren't any more racist than the rest of the Imperium. Their entire point is to die horribly and in massive numbers. Considering that's also the point of the Guard, that makes a strong point.

There's a story about them where they ask the commissar if they can go do some maneuver during a battle, and he's like “uh no you'll all die?”. And they're utterly bewildered and confused as to why this is a bad thing and they disobey him and go do it anyway.
Commissars usually are the ones shooting their own men.
It's a neat example of how the entire setting is just reduction to the absurd. Even in an army of people who are destined to die horribly, these people stand out.

The background to Krieg is basically that in the distant past, the planet was a giant dystopian "hiveworld" (mega city) whose leaders rebelled. The rebels were winning and the last few loyalists said frick this and pressed the "nuke every major city" button and turned the planet into a heck hole. Since then every Krieger has to die as a matter of honor to make up for the rebellion, so theyre all suicidal. That also explains the gas masks since going outside without them is instant death

but don't care about casualties if they think 
they'll achieve their goal, in some stories they're insane 
death 
cultists who obsess over martyrdom, in some they're normal 
dudes who are really 
duty-focused and live minimalist 
lifestyles, in some they're generic Guardsmen.
They're basically the male equivalent of the Sisters of Battle

Dead Men Walking is probably the best known one, it's very much in the “barely human robots” territory. There's a Ciaphas Caine story (Flashman in space but less grimdark) with them but I can't recall which one, it's more “normal dudes who live and breathe Army” style.

They shouldn't have separated Chaos into CSM wank. They're should only be 2 codex for Chaos. The Lost and The Darned for mortal chaos cultists (xenos/traitor guard/dark admech, unaligned Traitor Marines like Iron warriors and Night Lords etc..) and Daemons of Chaos for each God's demons and their pet legions eg Death guard etc..
Even expanding the T'au auxiliaries would awesome. Codex:Auxiliaries and Codex:Septs idk Just rip off the Covenant from Halo where the minor xenos of the Galaxy the Imperium have near exterminated band together out of desperation for a lot weird units and concepts.

They're abhumans, which are not mutants. Abhumans are generally considered human as long as the strain is stable, such as ogryn or ratlings.
Also ask the Interex how that went for them. Spoilers is was awesome till the Imperium slaughtered them all for being nasty little xeno frickers.

Watching and reading about Bardfinn made me change my life
I've been in a rut for the past few years because of a bereavement. Finished college but didn't get a job for a few years. I found some joy in communities like /r/drama because they reminded me of shit like 4chan and hackforums from back in the day.
But one day I was reading a comment by Bardfinn, clicked on his profile and it really made me want to change my life. I saw the next decades of my life flash before my eyes. Smugposting and bullying people who deserve it, but while not improving myself, gradually falling in to bad habits leading to me spending 18 hours a day in front of a computer before dying of DVT. I saw what Bardfinn did with his life and how he's now stuck in it. He won't get a job or ever pay child support because he's stuck in this life and constantly needs to justify it to himself. He's too invested in it to care about anything else. He unironically bragged about spending 80+ hour weeks 'fighting Nazis'. There is no hope for him.
But there was hope for me, and maybe for you too, reader.
Over the last few months I've been lifting again. Made some neat projects. Contributed to projects that interested me. Learned a lot. Got finances in order. Started hanging out with friends irl again. Sometimes I'd go to Bardfinn's profile and not even read, just see the wordswordswords and feel new motivation to apply for jobs. Got a few interviews and currently have two applications that might be my in.
I'm once again a productive member of society with a life, and it feels good.
Thank you for being so unbelievably and depressingly pathetic that you indirectly motivated me out of a rut through the fear of becoming anything like you, you wife beating, abusive, child support dodging c*nt.
