I'm looking to get a 3D printer for printing out some The Old World stuff, and various historical minis. I know I'll need a resin printer for it but that's about where my knowledge ends. Afaik 4k is fine resolution wise as I'm not a golden demon level painter so I'm not worried about the little bit of detail loss on 4k to 8k
Beyond that I have no idea. I'm s so not looking for anything insanely pricey. User friendly would be good too as I can be

As the resident 3d printing expert I would go with a elegoo mars 3. Its relatively simple, and I think you can find it for around 250. Be warned however, resin 3d printing is MUCH harder and more complicated then fdm 3d printing. You get a smaller print size and resin is a lot more expensive then filament. You will also need to purchase a wash and cure station to go with it and resin can get a little messy at times. But in return you get amazing detail and invisible layer lines.

I was looking at that one last night. Reviews said it didn't do auto leveling, but I have no idea what auto leveling is. Is that a big pain?

Bed leveling is kind of a pain, basically you just have to adjust all the screws 1 by 1 untill you can just barely move a sheet of paper between the print head and printing plate. Its annoying, but you only have to do it every 15-20 prints unless the print doesnt stick.

first layer is EVERYTHING in 3d printing, and a level bed is how you get a good first layer
Idk anything about resin printers tho, besides people underestimating just how noxious the fumes are. I've only used fdm

I have this one.

For the price it's really good. I've printed Battletech and other minis with it and they turn out great, basically as good as you would get from the "official" minis. Once you get the settings tuned in the failure rate is low and the detail is phenomenal.
Resin is kind of a pain in the butt to work with tbh but for minis it's worth it for the detail.

A Bambu Lab X1C is probably the only printer you will ever need. If you are on a budget get an Ender 3.
