It really boils down to the Space Marines being the coolest faction, there are the Sisters of Battle and other foid groups, but that isnt' enough. The :marseytrain2:s and foids need to be Space Marines, and that requires pooping on the lore, pretending it was always there and calling all dissenters incels and chuds.

Even though the Emperor and the Imperium despise xenos with a racist Nazi-like vibe, and they are a fascist faction, he's heckin wholesome and loves the :marseytrain2:erinos and believes that foids are just as strong as men and don't need no man.

Hence the whole brotherhood/fraternity vibe that has been portrayed in the lore means nothing, in fact, it was never that you chud.

The real problem with shit like this is when entertainment dip their toes into the culture war it takes a LOOOONG time for their shit to die off, while the smuggery butt kissing of consoomers seems to drag on. A lot of fans are basically fans of fandom itself. It's all about them. They have mastered the "Star Wars" or "Warhammer" universes or whatever, but their objects of veneration are useful mainly as a backdrop to their own devotion. Anyone who would camp out in a tent on the sidewalk for weeks in order to be first in line for a movie is more into camping on the sidewalk than movies.

Extreme fandom may serve as a security blanket for the socially inept, who use its extreme structure as a substitute for social skills. If you are Luke Skywalker and she is Princess Leia, you already know what to say to each other, which is so much safer than having to ad-lib it. Your fannish obsession is your beard. If you know absolutely all the trivia about your cubbyhole of pop culture, it saves you from having to know anything about anything else. That's why it's excruciatingly boring to talk to such people: They're always asking you questions they know the answer to.

Hope this change causes immense seethe to the """people""" who can't see an unrelated conversation without making it about their shitty franchise. Read another book nerds.
