It was more of a two-pronged attack. The core, ride-or-die neurodivergents
ed out while the casuals got diluted by hordes of smartphone-toting normies. Without the barrier to entry of needing a desktop PC with a DSL line to join an IRC channel there was no lower bound for how normal someone in a "nerd community" could be, so it all just withers away from the bottom, while the top simultaneously supercharge their autism and become emotionally unstable due to artificial hormones. It's magnificent.
For the record, the only solution is, unironically, chuddery. It keeps both the milquetoast normies and the effete soys out.
