Because of a dark matter that doesn't interact with anything, we can not see or detect but that makes up the vast majority of matter in the universe!
Because of a dark energy that we can not detect or measure and that doesn't interact with anything and is strongest in space where there is nothing for millions of light years!

Yeah. Dark matter/energy always bugged me because it seemes like something scientists came up with to explain the shit they couldn't explain but then just ran with it and treat the concept like proven fact despite no real evidence for it's existance. It reeeally smacks of pride on the part of physicists.
The much simpler explanation is they they were wrong about something related to physics.
