Ah, yes. Neoliberal hack (who destroyed the USSR) travels to neoliberal countries and is impressed by neoliberalism. Darn, really dunks on socialism.

Besides, most Americans are fat and unhealthy nowadays. Their processed slop is killing them. The Soviets meanwhile were slender and fit. Do you honestly believe slop deserved to win?

And yet more than 30 million Americans are food insecure and relying on food banks.

Huge success.

lol, they are counting people who didn't have dinner once on a Sunday per week, and also counting those who did not have a nutritious enough meal. By those standards every poor country is 99% food insecure and food insufficient.

>dinner once on a Sunday per week

lol bullshit :marseybrainlet:

>nutritious enough meal

Which is, in fact, a serious problem. American capitalism incentivises the production of addictive, sugar filled foods. People are enticed and entrapped into making poor nutritional decisions for the incessant pursuit of profit. America is politically, socially and physically, not a healthy nation.

The profit motive permeates everything. Every where you turn, people's value and labor is being squeezed out of them, just to be hoarded by a ruthless ruling class. I suppose the rich will keeping getting richer until they run out of other people's money.

The current dismantlement of neoliberalism is an exciting and necessary thing. Sadly, we're just moving from one shitty form of capitalism to another. Instead, we should move forward.

a survey by the Census Bureau revealed that 11.9% of households experienced "food insufficiency." This means that for tens of millions, "there was sometimes or often not enough to eat in their household in the last seven days."

From your link. If I missed breakfast once in a week I would be on the food insufficient list.

Bananas are pretty much the same price in the US and India. If you don't have the self control to buy a banana that's on you at some point.

Agree with the rest of what you said.

Something would have one day had to replace modern day capitalism as a further upgrade, but it is certainly not communism.

sometimes or often not enough

This implies that people are missing meals because of some sort of shortfall. This isn't a matter of "oh I don't feel like breakfast today" = "I'm literally starving", but instead a condemning realisation that capitalism simply cannot provide enough food for people.

Yes, America produces more food than it consumes. Great. The critical issue is that people do not have enough capital to buy that food.

Even as technology advances, capitalism holds society back. It strangles. Everyone in America could be fed if the shackles of capitalism were broken.

Bananas are pretty much the same price in the US and India.

And how is the average Indian meant to afford that? Again, capital leads to food withering away on a shelf.

If you don't have the self control to buy a banana that's on you at some point.

Again, capitalism incentivises the purchase of unhealthy options. How are you meant to eat healthy when corporate propaganda is shoved down your throat at every turn?

certainly not communism.

It most certainly is. I ensure you that you'll eventually realise that.

Nor can any other ideology. Capitalism at least succeeds in providing more food every single year.

The critical issue is that people do not have enough capital to buy that food.

Good point. Again, is the case in other places too. I believe you would have a more compelling argument if you attack the contradictory absurdities of capitalism rather than capitalism as a whole being a failed system.

And how is the average Indian meant to afford that? Again, capital leads to food withering away on a shelf.

The average Indian can afford bananas at those prices. The point was that compared to US capital those prices are relatively even cheaper for the average American.

Again, capitalism incentivises the purchase of unhealthy options. How are you meant to eat healthy when corporate propaganda is shoved down your throat at every turn?

A more compelling argument would be that processed food is engineered to be addictive in ways that normal crops or wheat or rice is not.

Ultra-processed foods are industrially formulated with added sugar, artificial sweeteners, additives and flavorings to be highly rewarding and even addictive. They can alter the brain's reward pathways the same way that other addictive substances do, making them challenging to consume in moderation.

https://usrtk.org/ultra-processed-foods/addictive/

It most certainly is. I ensure you that you'll eventually realise that.

There isn't enough land on that planet for communism to work with 8.2 billion humans living on the same planet.

The r-slurred Ruski might fall for it but I do not :marseyindignant:

The average Indian can afford bananas at $4.00/kg? :marseywut3:

This is another reason why free trade is a complete disaster. Greedy capitalists from wealth countries' go and pillage the local markets of developing nations. The people of those nations are their priced out of purchasing the literal fruits of their nations and labour.

Good point.

See? You're starting to get it.

attack the contradictory absurdities of capitalism rather than capitalism as a whole being a failed system.

I am attacking the absurdities of capitalism. It just so happens the whole thing is absurd.

A more compelling argument would be that processed food is engineered to be addictive in ways that normal crops or wheat or rice is not.

That's literally my point.

There isn't enough land on that planet for communism to work with 8.2 billion humans living on the same planet.
