Which game was more revolutionary Half Life 1 or 2?

I feel like half life 2 was more groundbreaking tbh

Longpost incoming

The first HL is imo the absolute apex of corridor shooters. There are no cutscenes, no lore drops, everything is done in game. It's an incredibly well designed game that is still playable although the original physics engine and lack of cover mechanics makes it feel dated. The game felt gigantic at the time, the universe was original and interesting. Plus it spawned Team Fortress and Counterstrike along with a BUNCH of other great mods. Even the vanilla multiplayer was great.

When HL2 came out I didn't like it. Cutscenes, hamfisted lore and a much more boring world. The game felt like a tech demo for the physics engine and the gravity gun gimmick was boring tbh. Ravenholm is completely out of place in the HL universe imo. I played it again years later and got more into it, but it's still not great. The best thing to come out of it was that mod where you play as a weird zombine thing for an AI named Minerva.

TLDR: HL1
