MS has 15 game studios without counting behesdia and Activision. Those 15 studios made 2 games, forza, Minecraft legend (age of empire 4 wasn't even made by ms game studio) so if we count those 2 behesdia game ms made 5 game in 2023. While Nintendo has 10 studios and they released more games

Close enough yeh that'll do. Sony have ground to a halt too, and Valve don't really make games anymore. Is everyone too scared to actually make and release games? Every game has to be a £300 million epic...

Part of it is probably lack of new projects being started during pandemic.
But yeah the scope, size, cost and "quality" publishers aim for these days is crazy. Something will have to change (it won't, they'll just keep buying up smaller studios, assign bigger and bigger projects and IP's to them until they fail and then repeat the circle with another studio)

Seems so and now often hits games are games that didn't even expected to make big numbers like that Belgian RPG baldur gate. But big games budget 80% seems to be marketing because it doesn't cost much making new cod especially when all the gameplay and etc is already build
