So I'm part of the !strayans and Blizzard having a Valentine's sale. I've been eyeing Starcraft 2 for a while and just been waiting for about a year.
In Dingo dollars it's $44.95. So that's 25% off full price. But been checking gg-deals and while this is the 3rd best price, the other best prices of $30 and $22 AUD were 2 and 3 years ago.
Do I bite the bullet since it's safe to say it isn't dropping that far again unless new pandemic?
Or since I only want to play single player offline, I just pirate?
Gib recommendations.

I remeber the story being really lame compared to the first. In terms of fun, it was alright. I wouldn't pay that much for it just for single player. Isn't the first campaign free anyway?
I would get Age of Empires 4 instead. It's cheaper even not on sale for the base game. I think I caught it when it was 20 American dolleriedoos.

the story degenerated into lame space opera but not really until mid way through LoTV

I remember Jim Reynor being so much cooler in the first. Don't know if it was because of the writing or change of VA.

Simple, he never thought he'd get another psi-assisted nut off in BW and immediately caved when it was back on the menu in SC2.

Is it worth it compared to AO2 Definitive? I have that and play with friends every so often (I'm bad).

Oh yeah, they made every empire unique with their own play style like Age of Mythology. It's pretty good.
If you are bad, you can just pub stomp some CPUs with your friends by turtling/range spam with the Brits. That's what I usually do

I usually let my better friends fight the war effort against expert CPUs while I play the Portugese as a slave class who contribute gold to the war effort via the Feitoria.
Occassionally I'll create a shit ton of organ guns though as backup if needed.

Isn't feitoria literally worse than just regular trade? Or you could play Spanish for the team bonus.

It is. But I think it works well when you want to devote your person cap to other areas. Mind you I don't usually, but I at least try to have as many farmers as possible to assit with food tribute as well. Also in the end game where all gold is gone and markets aren't exactly as good, feitoria can really help give an edge I think.

Why not just have 20 trade carts generating gold instead of a feitoria?

This is a very good question. One I don't have an answer for other than I said I wasn't good at the game.
