Why are people worried about Sweet Baby?

Just pick any random dev's (non-programming) Twitter that works at a game studio you like. They're not hiding this shit.

those tweets are good examples of the rot in the video game industry.

Sweet Baby Inc is just a symptom of what's going on. It's good to bully them, this whole situation helps wake up normie fence sitters. But you could delete Sweet Baby Inc and nothing would change. People who makes your games at AAA are already fully bought into the DEI shit. Every game that is made now goes through the wringer to purge any problematic aspects to it, to add the check box diversity, and add pandering to women and lgbtq “modern audiences”.

Truely, for anyone outside the industry if you think game devs are looking at this sweet baby Inc shit and are agreeing with you then wake up. If anything they're busy jerking themselves off at how this is just another example of misogynistic/racist g*mer babies and justifies all the work they do for DEI and how important it is to continue doing it.

True, but once we make a frightening example of the worst offenders like Sweet Baby, the other woketards in the game industry will rapidly reevaluate their commitment to the cause. Many of them aren't true believers: they only support wokeness because they perceive it as the dominant paradigm. Once they see that mouthing woke platitudes won't stop the angry mobs from putting their head on a spike, you'll be shocked by how quickly they change their tune.

Like most oppressive systems, very few people support wokeness because they truly believe in it: they only do so because they don't want to be cancelled themselves. The moment it becomes clear that the anti-woke team has the power to hurt them more than the wokies do, their loyalty will shift.

TL;DR: you're not wrong, but from a tactical perspective it's better to pick a target to destroy and stick with it, ignoring background noise. Once that particular target has been savaged beyond recognition, you move on to the next one. Switching targets midstream is suboptimal.

I think the industry is split between a group that believes all of this, and a group that ranges from center left to actual right wing people who just keep their opinions on the downlow, especially engineers.

Like I am buddy with some artist types and they are true believer to this ideology scheme

Everything from Google Gemini to the NYT has very recently been a reminder that, no, there is a core of true ideologues pushing these things. The same is true here, and the rot is real. In all these places it's very rarely top-down, though.

They're also making sure they're as hard to purge as possible, and they'll happily kill a company in the process. I do believe this is just another example of the pendulum slowly swinging back, but a lot of things are going to get fricked up as it does. I still maintain good things are coming out, but they'll be smaller, and I expect a lot of brands are going to capsize along the way.

Zealots and taking others down with them. Name a more iconic duo.

Thats why the artists are the first to get killed by AI.

Codecels are going after their number 1 annoying coworkers.

An engineer has an opinion and it involves the genocide of wokies.

That's fine. Then those companies die off too. Today's indie developer will be tomorrows EA.

Modern AAA development is such a time, money and staff intensive effort that you require a completely different skill set. A Bangladeshi sweatshop foreman would be better positioned to run such an operation than the most successful indie dev.

Yeah and they don't make money anymore. Unless you're rockstar. All these studios are shutting down if you haven't been keeping up.

Yeah, developers are being shuttered. Electronic Slop is doing great.

Every bump in the road is an opportunity to jettison deadweight (like Bioware). Cut expenses, increase profits in the short-term, happy investors will greenlight your next acquisition of an up-and-coming midsized developer with a valuable IP for you to milk dry, rinse and repeat.

EA is going to stay around for a very long time. Sooner or later they'll probably have to move more into a venture capital kind of role as the mid-sized acquisition targets just fail to grow organically - that's where the real crisis lies. Tiny indie devs are doing fine (for indie devs), corporate giants are doing fine, the mid-sized segment gets the worst of both worlds.
