Nah the game is still fine for onboarding rn.
Unless you play at max difficulty I've never seen anyone cry about people taking shitty weapons or not adhering to any “meta” so just try stuff out and see what you like.
I don't think it holds super long term replayability but you can definitely get a couple hundred hours if you want to unlock all the content.
