Theres a guy on Marvel Strike Force that spends like 10k every update and hes always the first one to clear content. And he plays the game practically all day, no one knows what he does in life.

not all gachas are equal, Genshin impact was very popular because it's first of all a very good free RPG. A lot of the gameplay criticisms are that it ripped off Zelda, which you know I don't actually care about if it ends up as a good game.

Fate grand order doesn't really have a game but is more like a visual novel and passable.

Arknights is a tower defence game, it does that job fine it isn't that deep.

The worst gachas are one that are just created based off existing IPs to farm some money before shutting down, maybe overlords, eminance in the shadow or solo leveling fall into this.

like once a year or so i get the urge to mindlessly waste time on some shitty gacha game but 99% of them are libertarian bait

Gachas are kinda interesting, they got hugely popular with normies due to genshin, they're no longer an obscure/coomer thing.

Actually, scratch that, it's not that they're no longer a "coomer" thing, it's just that normies discovered you can have attractive characters in a game, it isn't forbidden. Gameplay looks like shit, story looks like shit, but they have attractive characters and pretty anime graphics (while mostly everything else that gets to us is ultra realistic slop featuring Debra Wilson)

I played a lot of them through covid lockdowns because i like gambling fake money and the accelerated MMO-style progression lights my brain up like a pinball table. Since I've been back to work I just play the Romancing Saga gacha because I like the characters and the battles are challenging. I've spent maybe 40 bucks on it in 4 years. Usually no more than 5-10 minutes a day to hit the easy dailies, occasionally sitting down for a couple of hours to fight some of the tough bosses.

It's definitely just a gambling/grinding addiction though because when I go hard on a new Path of Exile league I rarely even do the daily logins because I'm already getting my fill.

i play genshin and spent maybe 200 leafbux on it so far (bout the same I bet on Trump winning lol) but it's been at least 6 months since the last time I bought anything from it

there were a lot of characters in 4.x that I wanted to try either because of gameplay or just Cloud Retainer because she was my favorite character in the whole game since being introduced in 1.0

but on the horizon the only character I think I want now is the Pyro Archon, and events have given me enough primogems to likely pull her without spending whenever she's released

I only play the ones where you're not meant to buy pulls (i.e. azur lane, limbus company). Otherwise it's not worth my time or effort to get FOMO'd.

I had a stint playing the LoveLive gatcha and it was pretty fun.

It required a good bit of skill/practice because it was mainly a rhythm game and I enjoyed the terrible music to begin with.

I was watching my friend play the KonoSuba gatcha recently and apparently it has an auto-play button? IDK didn't seem to have any skill involved. Also it was filled to the brim with lolis
