I love femshep because she's a badass but in the exact way a male action hero is badass. The script was written around a dude, so she's just a strong soldier who kicks butt, helps people, shit-talks bad guys, and always has her crew's back. There's no bitter, aggrieved angle; she's not trying to prove anything; the script doesn't make the men around her look bad just to prop her up.
The ideal would be to intentionally create good female characters, but the ME method is still better than 95% of people who are actually trying.
