:marseynull: is upset as JaGeX, the developers of runescape unilaterally signal that they would be supportive of adding a special report button for misgendering and adding pronouns to Runescape Names in Old School Runescape. Usually Changes to this version require a community poll with a supermajority because the only appeal it has is to neurodivergents who hate changes and want to live like it's 2005 forever

rDrama did it first (visionary)

Runescape is fricking boring and homosexual (bad kind), so I don't care to look into this more, but I like Null's angy posting

text just because KF keeps getting downtime

23 years of purity undone by one fat r-slurred cute twink. Contempt isn't even the word. Retroactively taking the game I remember and love the most from my childhood and making it another vicarious womanhood simulator for mentally ill people.

Hate, hate, hate.

In case you don't know, Runescape died a while ago. This is Runescape's second chance. When they pushed the game into the new RS3 engine, added MTX, then the Combat Evolved update, the game just flatlined. They got desperate and decided to do an event where they rebooted the game, exactly as it was in 2007. Fresh start, clean slate, everyone gets to play like they're a kid again.

Then it stuck. People were having fun and OSRS overtook RS3 in popularity. Well, you can't just close the fricking thing when it's making you six figures a month all of a sudden.

So what they did is promise to not frick it up again? They put everybody's minds at ease that they wouldn't surprise players with bad updates again. Every update would be passed by democracy. Polls and poll items for every single change, and those changes MUST have a super majority (either 66% or 75%, it's really high).

https://secure.runescape.com/m=poll/oldschool/results?id=1693

This is the level of specificity that exists in these polls. Every single change, pre-announced, discussed, polled, then implemented only with a huge majority.

Guess what change wasn't polled? All the strag shit. Because the OSRS players don't want strag shit. They don't want strag capes, they don't want strag pronouns, they don't want Body Type A/B, they don't want 15 year old quests changed so you don't have to marry a prince or princess opposite your gender.

Jagex doesn't care. "Frick you, losers! Eat our fat r-slurred British peepees! You invested tens of thousands of hours into our product and have paid us thousands over decades since you were old enough to beg your mom for her credit card, but eat shit!!! frick you!!!!"

Everything must be changed, all things be they in the future, present, or 20+ years ago, must be ruined to satisfy gross r-slur ogre :!marseytrain:s.

:marse#ytrans2: won again, suffer neurodivergents

Nostalgia and the game is very neurodivergent if you want to progress past a certain point. I get theres a charm about the game because it doesn't have the problems and cheapness of modern online games

Being browser based in the beginning helped a lot. Super easily accessible. It really hit that sweet spot of being an endless grind while still providing enough dopamine to keep people going. I've had my account for over 20 years and I still get the urge to go back and grind out more levels from time to time.
