My friends got me to play this around when player housing was being added to the icey elf city because they wanted my ability to do basic math to earn enough money. It was fine but kinda boring and the story that everyone jerks off is only ok, so I assume they were just buck broken by whatever the frick is happening in WoW. Fishing was really good though, best MMO fishing of any I've tried.

yea it's mostly fed up WoW player and degens who play FF14. The story part is interesting because it's one every long standing mmo has to handle, what do you do with all the previous expansion stuff. WoW says frick all that and skips you to the new stuff asap, FF forces you to play at least all the MSQ; both have thousands of youtube videos on why that approach is awful lol.

I only made it to Stormblood but I think the story is one of the best of any multiplayer game I've played. But there's only so much a person can handle without needing a break

Yeah I suppose it's good for an MMO, maybe even for a video game. I think my expectations were just warped by my friends constantly talking about how the story was great and how you just need to wait until you get to heavensward bro, but when I got there it was kid's first political intrigue tier, made more painful by the fact that I wanted to play scholar so collecting bear asses between dialogues took forever.
