The whole thing was just unverified screenshots and some google doc. No proof whatsoever that anything was sent from the publisher or developer. Just twitter randos repeating each other's bullshit.
Even when some "games journ*list" tried to verify the story on twitter, he still just posted the same unverified screenshot and claimed it was totally real without sourcing anything.
