On one hand more GPU power and better upscaling to make the UE5 vaseline games more legible isn't too bad, on the other, same CPU so no transformative framerate bumps, combined with no games and slow PS5 sales, this thing will surely flop hard.

Wonder if next gen will be the last home console generation before they go all in on streaming or Switch/deck like devices.

I mean the PS5 is still at like 61 million consoles sold, that's pretty respectable.

I having a console is the only thing keeping SONY in the game to begin with.

Overall numbers look pretty good but they've benefited from pandemic/lockdowns, they've been missing targets ever since it ended.

On top of that hardware doesn't make them money, games and subscriptions do. Since we're at a point where the box is just a PC with rate of progress slowing down a lot, Sony and MS both have game streaming platforma, and everyone has dozens of subscriptions, it's a pretty logical step.

That said MS would be first to take the plunge, obviously. Sony and especially Nintendo have different approach and nowhere near as many game studios.

Do we know the ps5 is loosing money still? I know that's usually the business mode of consoles but I was under the impression they usually can profit after a relatively short time.
