i think the concern is moreso that the CCP can unilatwrally take rhe company over and use it for espionage purposes or worse. Tiktok another privately owned CCP company has been shown to have a bunch hidden spyware fwatures/capabilities. I think its a good idea to be skeptical buying products that could be so easily influenced by a geopolitical foe. For instance, I bet hezbolah wishes they would have been more careful/skepticl when they sourced their electronics.
Has anyone ever considered China doesn't really give much of a shit about the rest of the world and don't really care to spy much? Historically they've always just thought they were a special people and that the rest of the world is filled with barbarians, I'd say that's more likely their mentality now and they don't care to spy as much as people think, they just want to make money.
I feel like westerners just portray their crusade for universalism and spreading ideologies onto other cultures who don't really care to.
All cultures have a natural tendency to spread their ways.
Historically you can say China did not spread their ways because the places the Chinese dynasties were spreading their ways was actually the whole of China itself, which often times would begin to show signs of breaking apart due to how large the area was.
It's like saying that the US does not spread its culture because they stopped expanding after the dozen or so colonies took over half the continent.
Tibet and Hong Kong got fully taken over by the Chinese sphere of influence.
China keeps trying to expand in the South China Sea.
China is clearly expansionist in its modern iteration and understands that it requires methods of control and influence internationally to remain relevant and competitive, simply to keep up with the US, if not due to an internal desire to control other people.
