>It's a map painter first and if some schizos made it into a competitive RTS with a mod, I commend them for their work, I heard some people turned Minecraft into an RTS too
It just isn't. Every single DLC has discouraged map painting, Paradox sponsors multiplayer events with thousands of dollars, they play their own game in multiplayer for quality assurance, the largest part of the multiplayer scene plays Vanilla. You quite clearly have no experience with hoi4 or any understanding of it's multiplayer, i wouldn't be surprised if you don't even understand the very basics of combat or macro, or you know Navy! HOI4 is an RTS, every single change paradox has made to it has been to lean it towards RTS, it's predecessor HOI3, practically didn't allow you to veer from historical gameplay, the setting in which hoi4 is also the best.
Even in single player, hoi4 is an RTS. The most fun gameplay, tanks and micro, comes from playing it with proper macro EVEN IN SINGLEPLAYER.
I fricking hate single player only redditors like you so fricking much It doesn't matter whether it's Victoria, Europa or HOI, you're all a bunch of r-slurs that can't play games and cope by painting maps against braindead AIs
Right, so that's why you use a mod to play competitive HoI4 instead of the base game? Because it's designed and intended by the developers to be a competitive RTS, that's why you use a mod to play a competitive game of HoI4? Because it's how the game is designed and not something that you need to adapt and modify to fit that mold
Do you not know what Vanilla means? As I said, Paradox sponsors tournament, they play their own game in multiplayer, balance changes are made with competitive play in mind. HOI4 is literally designed for multiplayer, and a large portion of it's mechanics, (spying, ghost divisions, heck even navy, going to free trade and of course pinging) have no use outside of multiplayer.
