i can't find a clip of it, maybe AEW is desperately trying to scrub it from twitter, but after he got kicked in the head/neck and was clearly hurt they decided to change the finish. ricky was getting pinned and very clearly not kicking out. the ref refused to count 3.

so to fix the situation and protect ricky from further head/neck injury they decide to...do a DDT. as top flight guy is pinning ricky he's staring right at the ref saying something. probably you fricking idiot count 3 jesus christ .

after the match they started playing ricky's music because his team was supposed to win. then after a few seconds of his music played top flight music.

ricky said today he's fine and got checked out.

i fricking hate top flight. they are so god darn bland and boring and have negative charisma. ricky and big bill cut an awesome promo earlier in the night calling out FTR, who they'd be facing next week if they had won like they were supposed to. now i have to watch another god darn top flight match.

sammy recently got suspended for a very similar thing. jeff hardy had a head injury in a match, sammy hit a move to the head to end it. got suspended. are they gonna suspend top flight for doing THE SAME GOD DARN THING?!

AEW refs are maybe the worst refs in the history of wrasslin'. is there a ref school? because all these guys need to go to it. YOU CALL THE MATCH LIKE IT'S A SHOOT, IDIOT. YOU FRICKING COUNT 3 IF THE GUY DOESN'T KICK OUT. AEW is such a low budget indy fed sometimes.

this happened on dynamite. and sure, he's really selling it with the whole "NO DON'T SHOOT ME" to the camera as he holds his ankle, but as it happened i thought nothing of it because he landed in an incredibly safe way when he got out of the muscle buster. didn't fall. didn't twist an ankle. just flat footed and rolled out of the ring.

now, there's a possibility that meltzer was in on the work and him/AEW thought the real story wouldn't get it. this is something i've literally JUST thought about and...it seems at least sort of possible? everyone insists meltzer is on the AEW take because he's bffs with the bucks and only reports what they want (which isn't true at all because he's recently been calling them WCW 2000 because they are getting like a dozen people to buy tickets for TV) so maybe he was kayfabing it? probably not. seems like a way to destroy any journ*listic integrity you might have had.

According to Fightful Select, AEW has suspended Sammy Guevara. The suspension stems from his match with Jeff Hardy that was taped on Feb. 16 and aired on Feb. 18.

Hardy was injured in that match when Guevara's knee hit him in the face while Sammy delivered a Shooting Star Press. Word was that Jeff suffered a broken nose, but not a concussion. AEW hasn't used the former WWE star since.

Fightful's report indicates that Guevara is suspended because “concussion protocol was not followed”, and that resulted in Sammy ”hitting his finisher on Hardy, which we're told shouldn't have happened.”

We should learn more specifics about how Guevara allegedly violated the concussion protocol in future reports. Perhaps we'll also learn more about this scene from after the match...

Matt Hardy has addressed the match & injury on his podcast, but his comments have mostly focused on his brother's health.

There's no word on the length of Guevara's suspension, other than Fightful noting that he's currently serving it. He wrestled Powerhouse Hobbs in a No Disqualification match on the Feb. 24 Collision that could have been a write-off for his character.

Guevara was suspended by AEW once before, in 2020 when inappropriate comments he made about Mercedes Moné/Sasha Banks on a 2016 podcast resurfaced (he apologized, which she acknowledged). He's also been involved in behind-the-scenes incidents with Andrade El Ídolo and Eddie Kingston.

as usual for an AEW PPV most of the build sucks but the matches look like they are gonna be awesome. there's still 3 more hours of TV left so this might change, but so far at least they haven't added a bunch of random bullshit with no build to the PPV a few days out like most other times. i'm sure tonight two guys will interact with eachother for the first time ever and immediately get a PPV match.
