Technically I donโt have an โincomeโ and wasnโt enrolled in insurance, so I was kinda freaked out when I swung an axe through my boot and into my foot.
Not because of the damage, but because of the emergency room costs Iโd have to pay out of pocket.
After the X-rays and getting stitched up (yes europoors and r-slur-Americans - theyโll fix you up before even asking if you can pay for it) the billing lady came into my hospital room and asked me a few questions. Was I employed? No officially. Income? Not that theyโd be able to find. Did I have health insurance? Of course not.
Right then and there the nice lady signed me up for Medicaid. Not only would my visit be covered, but it would retroactively cover any medical expenses from the previous four months!
Iโm sitting in an $8k chair, living in a 5000sqft house, waiting on my new BMW to arrive, and you, yes YOU! The taxpayers! Your hard earned money is paying for 100% of my medical care!

My uncle had a massive heart attack the month after he landed in the US (he won the green card lottery, which is such a weird concept by itself lol). He got insanely good medical care, a super long surgery and weeks of recovering in the hospital/physical rehab center. for FREE. Even here in canada I'm not sure if he could get it for free so soon after arriving , and even then you get trash service since the hospital has no incentive to do anything but keep you somewhat alive.

There was a r/drama post linked to a r/chapotraphouse post linked to some other post way back when that was about a big hotshot business consultant trying to help a failing company. Long story short he concluded that basically a whole office building of employees in NYC was completely worthless and fired all of them, and it saved the company because it was quite literally a whole office full of do-nothing PMCs. Because most people want more than one option that is just from the government. People would support a public option but the left went full r-slur and has been pushing Medicare for all which would completely nationalize the insurance industry. My ambulance rides cost $10 and the visit to the ER is free once a year otherwise it becomes $50. My medical doctor appointments are free the first 3 times, and then a $10 co-pay after that. I paid $1.51 for a three month supply of blood pressure meds because I literally cant stop chugging caffiene and salty foods.
Redditors just work shit jobs or opted out so they can get an extra 50 bucks on their paychecks.
Heck, I think even Starbucks offers medical, vision and dental now.
