I wanted to highlight comments but I really have no time at all to do anything

Take a scroll and gawk at the thousands of manchildren gushing at other manchildren and insisting to one another that being older than 25 with a roommate is not only normal, but a necessity

Honestly carp the thread is not that bad, a lot of people in the post are rational and there aren't many soys - a couple of highlights:

:marsoyhype: not the consoles

living frugally. I couldn't afford consoles, I couldn't afford tv. even my cell was a used unit i got for cheap.

all I could afford was food, rent and basic utilities. But that leaves a lot of time for work. so I work. Its not fun.

Now I am better off, so I am enjoying myself with things I never had in my youth. so pardon this 40plus year old nearing 50 dude that still watches cartoons and plays videogames.

redditors being reasonable here

Got a job, rented

Dude, so many people on this thread are making the act of moving out of their parents to house before 30 as some Herculean effort, it's asinine. Step 1: Get a job; Step 2, not at Starbucks part time.

Reddit is made up of a few million literal children that have decided that this time it's different.

The world is ending, didn't you hear?

It's impossible to not be a complete loser! It's the governments fault! It's rich people's fault!

actually good drama in this chain when some user asks what job allows you to move out of your parent's bedroom in 2022

I got a job?

What job allows you move into your own place in 2022? (Link to chain: https://old.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/xkrpev/people_who_moved_out_of_the_parents_house_before/ipfkg9r/?sort=controversial)

someone claims they don't have the money for it despite making over 200k

https://old.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/xkrpev/people_who_moved_out_of_the_parents_house_before/ipflxbc/?sort=controversial

I sold my soul to Wall Street

Ironically, I make over 200k and can barely afford the cheapest apartment I found

The housing market is being piledrived up the butt by institutional investors right now due to how stable it is amidst massive economic turmoil

You're some kind of insane if you can't live on 200k... I lived in Manhattan making less than 3k a month.

some more fights in this chain:

Are you serious ? It's called work go find a job work for crap pay save your money stop buying the latest iphone or anything apple for that matter . Don't go buy a brand new car buy a used car it doesn't need to be pretty. And save up 1st last and deposit plus 2 more months worth of rent then start the grind to find your first dump to live in. You should have done this by your 19th birthday if not sooner in most states you can start working at 16 even younger in some states. Thats not including under the table jobs working for old man farmer out in a field somewhere at 10 yrs old

Maybe this works in some places or just at some point in the past, but ive been working since i was 16 (26 now) and i am very frugal. I pay my bills (you know, car, phone, insurance.. the usual.) nothing fancy. And i really dont go and do anything cause things cost money. Despite this and saving every dollar i can, i still cant afford a small apartment in my area. Its insane.

Time for a new job

There are not enough of the higher paying jobs for everyone to keep increasing their compensation. Wages are pretty much uncoupled from inflation completely and stagnant isn't strong enough a word to describe them.

The 'get a better job' or 'we make our own luck' arguments fall apart when you see that is only possible for relatively few.

The system needs an overhaul. Big time.

It's your own fault if you're a loser but a lot of problems are the rich people's fault too.

>Iโ€™m single so hooking up could be a problem in a small town but I hear ya

>I have chronic health problems plus Iโ€™m on the heavy side, even my part time job takes everything out of me. :(

>But I want to live alone, idc how small my space is as I never leave bedroom except to use potty anyway

All from the guy who asked about what job pays well enough to live on your own in 2020.

Oh yeah I'm sure peole want to hook up with some fatty with health problems who cant move out of their own town lives with his rents, and never leaves his bedroom other than to use his potty.
