I firmly believe that the only social media of the future worth using will be federated. Will it be the dramaverse?

Mastodon is a federated version of Twitter, aether is a federated version of reddit. To be honest, I know almost nothing about how the process actually works or how difficult it is to implement.

I don't trust the mods here to take care of an actual site with anything other than r-slurred drama. Everything forking away from centralization is a good thing so there is at least a new place to run to if the mods at one go insane.

Seriously. Yesterday I made a comment on SRD the Frenworld ban in which I referenced Harry Potter characters. The very serious adults of r/Drama and r/ZweiRama decided to brigade it, with endless comments to "read another book" and breathless condemnations on how contemptibly immature they found it to use a children's book to describe an incontinent baby-talking Nazi meme sub. These are the same people who launched a campaign of mass harassment against multiple women over video games.
