As I understand it, it's not an issue with the images themselves but with embedding them from another site. So sneks suggests just downloading an image and uploading it to your post if it's from a site that isn't on the whitelist. If you want to put the image in a certain place in your post, just edit it and you'll see the links at the bottom so you can copy and paste them wherever you want.

It is a bit annoying that in order to upload multiple images to your post, you have to upload one, post it, then edit the post, upload another one, and post it, etc. Then move all of the image links to the correct spots.
