-the credit card company took back the $425 from the restaurant, which runs on very thin margins so thats a lot
-she made a reservation on opentable with her fricking name and then paid with the other google employee’s credit card
-the other google employee saw the charge and called the restaurant

Swiping without a chip has been on the way out in the US the past century, most places ask for chip+pin now or chip+ signature. If the place doesnt ask for a chip+pin then they are liable for unauthorized payments, thats why almost every merchant on the world asks for contactless/pin or chip now. Our bank declines swiped payments completely now unless you manually enable it for like 24 hrs at a time
