Neurotic :marseysnoo: womxn buys a CO2 monitor, replies are full of fellow neurotics with 😷 PFPs

https://twitter.com/KatherineJWu/status/1621558850250805250

The meter’s cruel readings began to haunt me. Each upward tick raised my anxiety; I started to dread what I’d learn each morning when I woke up. After watching the Aranet4 flash figures in the high 2,000s when I briefly ignited my gas stove, I miserably deleted 10 wok-stir-fry recipes I’d bookmarked the month before. At least once, I told my husband to cool it with the whole β€œneeding oxygen” thing, lest I upgrade to a more climate-friendly Plant Spouse. (I’m pretty sure I was joking, but I lacked the cognitive capacity to tell.)

Well done for helping to reproduce the narrative that caring about clean air is crazy. That caring about not getting sick is crazy. Bravo - tweet

This piece undermines efforts to get better indoor air quality in public spaces and shops and restaurants by having them post CO2 monitors in public the way they do in countries like Japan. Why are you doing this? - tweet

Definitely better not to know. While you're at it: disable the smoke, carbon monoxide, and radon detectors in your home. Stop using sunscreen. Lobby regulators to prohibit severe weather warnings. Never get your blood pressure checked. No more dental check-ups. - tweet

Hi Katherine! Could you please take this down? - joeolivermd

I think this piece is incredibly irresponsible given the ongoing mass death and disability.

Covid is killing 1,000s a week and Katherine used her platform to paint CO2 monitoring in a negative light.

Yesterday I used a CO2 monitor and learned the Metro in DC has good ventilation. - tweet

Non-germanic peoples (bongs excluded) are disgusting. They never freshen the air by opening windows. burgers in south just have AC running and burgers in nroth just have fans ....

Spanish and Itays think they get sick from air.

if your co2 levels are climbing to 2000 ppm inside you house, just add a grow light and a few pot plants :taycold:

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

lol no. It takes about 400 house plants to offset the co2 you produce.

lol no you are wrong. with seven grow lights in a sealed room, my regulator would still click on to supply extra when im in there. only 25 plants. would drop the room to zero ppm in 20 minutes from 1500ppm. thats rdwc tho, so turbo mode growing

Dude, its literally been extensively studied by NASA as part of their research on living off planet.

Just think about how much more metabolism and activity you have compared to a houseplant.

Your breath is something like 38,000 ppm, 25 house plants is going to barely make a dent in that.

t baseline, the levels in my apartment were already dancing around 1,200 parts per million (ppm)β€”a concentration that, as the device’s user manual informed me, was cutting my brain’s cognitive function by 15 percent.

This person is batshit unstable.

The ppm had climbed back up, this time to above 1,400. My cognitive capacity was now down 50 percent, per the user manual, on account of self-poisoning with stagnant air.

The overpriced C02 alarm didn't break her. She is simply r-slurred.

Christ, she keeps going.... :marseylongpost:

To be fair, my apartment’s air quality has a lot working against it: two humans and two cats, all of us with an annoying penchant for breathing, crammed into 1,000 square feet; a gas stove with no outside-venting hood; a kitchen window that opens directly above a parking lot.

:marseysnoo:

Is this truly a human? Another NPC update? ChatGPT? :marseyquestion:

Reminds me of the trolls in Discworld. They're made out of rocks, so they have brains of silicon - the cooler they get, the faster they think. Need to hit absolute zero for 100% efficiency, at which point the troll basically transcends.

Of course, they freeze to death well before they get to that point. Kinda like how giving pure oxygen to a human doesn't go so well, either.

home bubble pod might actually help treat their neurosis, but not because of CO2

:brainletchair: <- me doing armchair psychology

They might have some sort of anxiety stacked with ASD traits (that are comorbid with OCD a lot), so for person who feels like their cognitive function drops when someone else is in the room--- that's a classic ASD thing of not being about to focus around people and feeling "compressed" and overwhelmed by them. Some neurodivergent people have a hard time eating while there are people in the room bc it's just too much information at once.

a calming semi-sensory deprivation pod might actually do wonders

plus if they have family they won't have to deal with them while they're in stress mode because they'll be podded

Sister. I've noticed that your avatar is not wearing a hijab. When you wear a hijab, you are obeying the commands of Allah, and you can expect great rewards in return. It is Allah's protection of your natural beauty. You are too precious to be "on display" for each man to see. It is Allah's preservation of your chastity. Allah purifies your heart and mind through the hijab. Allah raises your dignity through the hijab. When a strange man looks at you, he respects you because he sees that you respect yourself. And this applies to your avatar as well.
