Theory: A lot of people think that Steve is a computer idiot, but Steve is precisely the kind of autist who would spend the time he doesn't spend "battling the Nazis" and LARPing as a cockthirsty woman on Second Life learning how to successfully hack. He's celebrated hacks before. IIRC on the Kiwifarms thread they mention that Steve was celebrating Kiwifarms being hacked. Looks like he plays some sort of hacking online game, too. He's exactly the person to be personally involved in something like this. Which is interesting. He's all about exposing others, but doesn't like it that people know his own true history.
