as long as my life stays relatively the same, i couldn't possibly care less whether we elect a president or someone is procliamed king for life.

no president really does shit to make my life better (or worse if i'm being honest), so if we have a king who does the same then what's the difference?

This is true in a climate where congress is willing to hold a president accountable, as we saw with Trump, that isn't the case.

Trump started multiple r-slurred trade wars using powers he didn't likely have and the courts/republican congress just let him do it.

You are an outlier. People who are heavily invested in politics would have too much time to spend with a king, so things would be rather massively different if there was an actual, non-symbolic monarch. Presidents, however, hold office for so little time they are basically unaccountable, which keeps the political climate stable
