Ghostbusters are leading the way, like they led the way into this era of shitty films that try to cover bad writing, bad acting and bad direction with 'progressive messaging' with their latest film, by simply ignoring their woke mistake ever happened.

That's whats going to happen within a decade; they'll do a soft re-boot of doctor Who, James Bond, Star Wars and all the rest that will just ignore that all this woke garbage and pretend it never happend, because as many updoots as it gets on twitter and reddit, no one is watching it, no one is buying it. The MCU is trading on coonsoombrain brand recognition alone and each new fresh turd loses a few more people to anime.

By the 2030's this will all be a cringy memory of ultra r-slurred time, just like how we think of the 80's and the conservative christians parents teacher association social dominance.

Unironically, I think the closest parallel is ugly hairstyles in the 80s. The gays who controlled fashion were like "we CREATE gender and hotness", so they popularized a bunch of ugly Foid haircuts, in the spirit of androgyny. Now, we look back like "Elaine had an ugly haircut and gets hotter as Seinfeld goes on."

The mid-90s is unironically the peak of human existence. Also, Dana Scully is still the hottest cop ever to be on TV

Eh, hollywood is basically peak soybrain, they didn't just think the message made them money, but are the ones promoting the message. Plus there seem to be no good writers left in the studio system, its all just Alex Kurtzman-tier.

The way big movies are made nowadays also doesnt allow for the wildly creative people that made it what it is, to flourish. These big franchises start animating the big dumb action scenes literally before they have a finished scrip or even a director, who then basically have to make the movie around those scenes, which explains why the action scenes are so disconnected from the plot scenes nowadays. They then of course have the corporate suits breathing down their neck to appeal to focus groups.

Or in short

Yeah, people thinking this is some kind of calculated move by studio execs trying to use progressivism to cover for other aspects of their game/movie etc. being shit is wishful thinking. Simple fact of the matter is that most movie studios/production companies are located in cultural hotbeds - California, London, Mumbai... At some point you gotta ask yourself if it's the studio execs cynically using what was less than a decade ago pretty fringe thought and movements for uncertain monetary gain, or of it's the producers, directors, writers, actors, supporting staff etc. living in the most progressive cities in the world who genuinely believe this shit and it's reflected in their work.

This is also part of the reason why there will never be a huge amount of creativity in these industries - despite increasing global homogenization, it's undeniable culture still has strong localized ties. As long as movies keep coming out of the same places, they won't have the variety you might want, even foreign ones (even French or Indian or Romanian movie people live in the biggest cities in their country, often studied abroad, consume western art and are heavily influenced by western thought).

Music is a great example, thanks to a low barier of entry, it can come from anywhere, and if you penetrate just a little deeper than the mainstream, you'll find a ton of variety and "diversity".

FWIW this is one thing I don't agree with - the action scenes are disconnected, they're often shot by second unit (basically a different director and often even crew), but they're not necessarily made before the movie, at least not in the big blockbusters, maybe in the martial art stuff where action carries the movie.

I dont get why deconstructions are so acclaimed. I prefer a straight story thats honest to itself

It probably has something to do with a deconstruction being the literary equivalent of pissing on your face, so even an idiot could get the β€œmeaning” behind it.
