Im of that opinion. I enjoy looking for foreshadowing and character development and i think the wow factor of twists detracts from that as it makes you think the story is awesome purely because youre blind to it Edit: tho i also think that study kind of californiaizes itself near the end by saying plot dont matter. To me storytelling is a balance of plot, characters and pacing. You can sacrifice plot and pacing for characters or characters and plot for pacing, etc. The plot can benefit from spoilers because it can help you understand it and some characters and kinds of pacing benefit different plots

You should watch every good film twice for this reason. Once for the wow factor, once to appreciate what it truly is. Depriving yourself of the wow factor just means you’ll be dissatisfied with any film that doesn’t hold up to a rewatchβ€” but on your first run through instead
