There are a great number of delusional belief systems in the world. Accepting the empirically-verifiable concept of Heck does not necessarily imply anything about the truth of a religion aside from the fact that even they couldn't deny the transmigration of consciousness and the subtle cosmological fractal-nature of cause and effect. They just spin these self-evident facts in ways that benefit them. Christianity isn't incoherent because it says that men and women exist and are different. It's just true. And of course Christianity will interpret those differences in ways that further the Abrahamic egregore.
Religions (traditional, secular, civic or otherwise) obviously punish dissenters. It's simply due to basic evolutionary principles: intolerant worldviews are better at the whole game of survival of the fittest. Power is not directly-tied to truth but that does not mean it is orthogonal to it.
The only way to really discern what is true is through repeated empirical tests of cause and effect. You have to study how things arise and how things pass away. What causes this meditative state to arise and pass away? What causes these experiments to have this result versus that result? Everything else is blind lunacy.
And it is through repeated empirical observation within and without that anyone who is not blinded by wokism/feminism/secularism/etc comes to the conclusion that your intentions matter, your actions have consequences, and just because you don't want to face the consequences of your actions doesn't mean you get to get off scot-free.

I really like the philosophical idea that souls are born from an ocean and return to it when they die. It's not an easy sell for people to go to church over because it discounts the idea that you have any lasting individuality that resembles the you of this moment in time, but I think it's compelling in answering questions of why some souls are flawed more than others. It's difficult to wrap your head around the idea that maybe your personality, as it is right now in this time, isn't very important in the scheme of things, but it's definitely something I find believable.
That David Mitchell book Bone Clocks plays with this concept although the book itself is just a wacky adventure set on top of it instead of taking it very seriously at all. My favorite book of his by far.

So some of us cant comprehend non-existence, so we invent other forms, but we also cant comprehend other forms so invent non-existence. Depends on the brain chemistry
For example Epicurus said “why should I worry about death? When it only exists when I do not”. There's also that Lovecraft wanted oblivion. Not to mention that Buddhism also believes in such a fate and embraces it. In fact a lot of Greek philosophy and Buddhist philosophy influenced Modern Christianity, Modern Science and basically just how we live our lives. These ideas arent new, we've always been smart enough to comprehend the end of knowledge and subjective experience we just can never experience it. It's a belief system in the same way any form of death experience is. To some it's preferable to others not
