Confinement is an animated SCP fan series. (SCP is creepypasta.)
Episode 7 (about IKEA) was released back in 2019.
Since then the creator, Lord Bung, has been collecting Patreon money to work on episode 8. She's been slowly making progress, despite having a broken butt. (mirror)
Last week, Lord Bung announced that she'll stop working on the series. (Reddit thread: r/SCP: It's Over). The redditors say she was involved in some some false r*pe accusation drama or something, idk.
A couple days ago, a completed section of Episode 8 was leaked. It's 4 minutes of fetish porn in which the main character runs around naked and accidentally r*pes other characters repeatedly. (Reddit thread: r/SCP: Confinement episode 8 was going to have a 4 minute porn scene wtf.)

a) fanfic/amateur writing backgrounds, so i) self-inserts, ii) poor prose, iii) overreliance on format-frickery, like redacted and the mimetic stuff, iv) freaking epic pop culture references
, v) neurodivergent, under-socialised authors.
b) lore autism
c) premise receiving more attention than the execution. This is inherent with what SCP is (R-rated Lilo and Stitch), and led to all that complete wank about keters/thaumiels, pataphysical-whatever, metafictional bollocks etc.

you cannot evaluate collaborative writing on quality alone I think. Quality alone will always suffer compared to a single person's cohesive vision.
Rather, it's like a performance piece. The incoherence is the trade-off for freedom, experimentation, and creating a subculture. The 'brilliance' is the staggering hyperobject of thousands of different people churning out mostly-garbage.
I find the subculture aspect interesting but I prize high-tier writing too much to consider it 'better'. Rather, I keep tabs because I like it when normies decide to write, regardless of their qualifications and skill.
