It's interesting that the CIA decided that instead of recruiting from the armed forces or Mormons or people whose values actually align with theirs, they felt a better option would be to target their recruiting campaign towards mentally ill teenage commies who hate authority and would cheerfully post state secrets on Twitter for even a scrap of attention. I wonder how that's working out for them

I don't think the CIA cares about LGBT people.
It's the same reason as corporations, most people don't actually care about LGBT issues or support them. The rednecks that are the loudest against don't have a significant amount of money or spending while liberals with more money tend to be more educated.
It's a fairly non-controversial powersignaling among the people with the most money and power.
It backfired with bud light because poor stupid people tend to drink piss beer.

The main purpose of the Red Tribe's existence is for our society to have a warrior caste. The Blue Tribe is terrible at anything involving conflict: they always overestimate the importance of soft power and often lack the skepticism needed for proper intelligence gathering. They're gullible as frick because of the whole "listen and believe" tenet of their ideology which encourages them to take things at face value. That's a terrible trait for somebody in the intelligence services to have. If you work in covert ops, you should have the mindset of a paranoid butthole whom by default assumes everybody around them is a self-interested liar.
The CIAs virtue signalling has a substantial cost here because they are actively driving away their best candidates. Who would want to go into this line of work and have to deal with wokeshit when they could go into the corporate world and deal with the same wokeshit but make a lot more money?
