Never had it, but it's obvious why it gets so much hate; even if it tastes delicious (I'm sure it's great), the eating experience is the complete opposite of what you expect when you think "pizza" :nerd:

A NY slice, you eat it with your hands casually, with some customization options in the form of pepper flakes or parm :marseythumbsup:

Same goes for more or less any pizza style, point is that you make slices and eat with your hands :marseyraisinghands:

Again, never had Chicago style, but that shit looks like fork and knife are mandatory :marseyyikes:

I guess the logic is that if I'm gonna have a "sit down" meal with a fork and knife, then I'll get something good that I can't just theoretically get in an incredible eat-with-your-hands experience :marseypizzaslice:

It feels almost like arguing lasagna vs. pizza, the use-case and context for it is completely different :soyjakanimeglasses:

The other style in Chicago is tavern which is the little squares, which is my fav way to eat pizza

Deep Dish is great when you have friends over and order a pizza or go to a restaurant

NY wagies have to eat pizza with their hands while they walk home from their jobs because they can’t own cars and their city is too crowded

Chi wagies can at least sit down to eat which is why the other Chicago-style pizza (tavern) exists.
