I searched for all these. I don't think they've been posted so I'm putting them in one post to make it easier.
Minecraft developer at Mojang posts to the sub
So Long, and Thanks for All the Feedback
/r/Me_IRL goes into archive mode
Sardine thread
https://old.reddit.com/r/SubredditDrama/comments/14lri74/me_irl_permanently_archived/
/r/NeutralPolitics & /r/NeutralNews jannies want to eventually find another platform, but ask users for feedback about what to do in the mean time.

/r/ThereWasAnAttempt started auto banning /r/JustUnsubbed users. There's dozens of posts about it on their sub right now. Example
Drama post 3 days ago about the ban message
https://rdrama.net/post/182577/rtherewasanattempt-now-bans-you-if-you
The ban message is obviously intended to anger them, but they still take the bait.
JustUnsubbed janny posts a few hours ago saying they will not yield:

Legit will be interesting to see what Reddit is like in three years.
This isn’t enough “nothing ever happens”-pilled / for this place but I legitimately think it will be a shithole three years from now.
Sure it’s a “shithole” now but there’s at least redeeming qualities.

The only redeeming quality I can think of is the endless back catalog of tremendously useful information that you find by googling pretty much anything. That’s not going anywhere and it will certainly continue to be added to. There’s nothing else good about Reddit.

Such as? Anytime I see a post about a question I have on google are the comments are like
[removed]
[deleted]
and since pushshift is gone, you can't even see what was there.

Isn't reddit restoring old comments? Even the overwritten ones apparently.

No, I think what happened there was people were running overwrite scripts during the blackout when they didn’t actually have access to their comments

I feel like the type of autist that would effort post in a wiki about mechanical keyboards or smokers is exactly the type of person to care about “third party APIs”.
The normies who think Reddit is the funny animal video site or home to /r/Politics aren’t exactly married to Reddit either, tiktok, insta, even FB work just as well.
Would you agree removing old.reddit would make the site a corpse of it’s former self?

People have been saying this since 2013 (and they’ve all been relatively right)

Have they though?
I mean in the sense that any political wrong think is gone - fair - but there was/is still useful non-winguck utility on reddit.

It will still be around, but it will be populated entirely by normies. It won't go the way of Digg, since people are too online now, but eventually it will only be normie shit with no chuds. I imagine /r/conservative will still be around, but completely neutered so Reddit stays looking politically neutral.
It will also be the easiest it's ever been to troll. We'll get to the point that even our most obvious Ops will be somewhat successful

I feel like trolling will be harder and harder as they continue making their fingerprinting better especially with new reddit / just forcing use of the app.
