Big tech only supported net neutrality because it would guarantee they wouldn't be charged higher transit rates than smaller businesses. They tried to frame it as internet-freedom-bernie-sanders-municipal-internet-provider and succeeded.

It's the same standard we use for phones and other utilities. They should feel lucky they don't get nationalized.

I think the Indian guy who repealed it basically saying that the entire infrastructure was created on the promise of very little regulation because the systems themselves were costly to build and turned a lot of it over to the free market to shoulder the costs (gov't loans and shit still existed, but private investment was heavily encouraged by that policy).

Obama basically broke taboo by touching on a subject that was intentionally neglected and the tech people realized they could have their cake and eat it too.

He wrote an article about it and called John Oliver or John Stewart a massive straggo.
