Which Marian apparition is your favorite? πŸ€—

Marian the librarian.

My first job at 14 was at a dinner theatre where I worked the lightboard backstage and set props for "The Music Man."

The one where he accidentally had his leg on fire but did not know it because he was paralyzed and the secret service had to run in and say, "Sir...sir...your leg is on fire."

What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever seen?

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Hm. I'm really thinking. I've seen cool things.

The concert with Sting and Paul Simon together was VERY cool for me.

But I guess the COOLEST thing I've seen was actually the Jeopardy stage...and the backstage...and the helpers and the taping and the winning. Because when it happened I was tanking in the first show, but I really kind of suddenly felt the presence of my dad...who I used to watch Jeopardy with... and I won. It was odd...I'm not that kind of person that really thinks "Oooooh...there's a presence."...but it was odd... I was just trying to hold it together and be me in that first taping and suddenly I did feel a presence like my dad was there...

My problem with this quote is that it had to have been false at some point, so it’s obviously hubris to state it at any point in history. Sounds dope though

That book specifically is holy to me... I once did a lot of reading about Qohelet...

Qoheleth is the warning about how painful it is to know too much/

Jump in the discussion.

to know too much/

That's interesting to me. It has a hint of the heresy of gnosis in it, as if there are those of us who know "too much" in some way that is deeper than the others of our kind. (And I know I'm reading a lot into a simple phrasing, but it's a thread worth pulling on.)

I have tended to call this sense of gnosis a heresy (I am known as Ungnostic) for the simple reason that whether or not the wordless can express the pain of the fall from Eden, they certainly know that pain. They are in it, after all.

For me Qohelet is a commonality across time, the power of the Living Word, to end the ceaseless suffering of the roving mind looking for answers, to look out on all that humankind is and can only be and find satisfaction.

There were others, who went before

And passed this way again

And their path was lined with tears

On their way to meet the Lord God Almighty

Another;. What year did you 1st get online?

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Hm. Technically probably 1988.

Is that possible? That's when we had "computer" classes at my school... but it wasn't "online."

After that? 1991? I didn't do anything online when I was in London...but after I came back to the USA...yes...

Nah I don't drink anymore. I'll be offered nice bourbon at get togethers with friends but I'll sip a tumbler all nite instead of downing one after another. Honestly I'm more of a gin and tonic guy.

I work at a nice restaurant where we serve private parties. They usually order a whole bunch of wine of different varieties

Since there's some wine we only sell by the bottle, if they don't finish it then it's already paid for and we can have it. A lot of the time the bottles are almost full so it's not too bad lol
