I know Russian cops say something like dude just admit you are guilty and we let you free in 6 months or less but if you continue saying u ain’t guilty and win the case we will be able to let you free only after 12 months since it takes long to handle all the documents.

This is also true in west Europe, a teacher once gave me a 0 for French oral exam and told me I will have to redo the whole year I went to lawyers and they all agree it’s impossible to receive a 0 for oral + they talked to me in French and all agreed that I have good French knowledge but they told me the whole procedure would take years.

I kinda was than young so I just left. I probably could shake some shekels from the school but my butt was to impulsive back than.

Nah b-word just hated me with passion and at that time I studied in Belgium in a flamish school and they hate French with passion. The reason why she hated me was because I was a Rightoid and she was extreme leftist. Once we had to watch a fragment of a movie then describe what happened and who is in the scene. So there was 3 ugly bald man dressed in black and riding a shady car so it was obvious they are bad guys. So I told her those guys are bad guys. She got furious and asked me why ? I told her ech they are dressed in black. She than pointed on a arab from class who was dressed as those man from the movie and asked me is he a bad guy. I looked at him and told her duh. Ufff she got hysterical. But that’s not the best part I was suspended for a week from her lessons and had to sit outside the class and doing some stuff to improve my judgment and next lesson that arab dude throw the table at her and was kicked out from school. (Dude was legit an r-slur who had criminal record and was basically kicked from 2 schools in less than 2 weeks kek) but of course I couldn’t let it go and I came to her and asked her hey can you teach me how to judge people but she ignored me and for 3 weeks I would ask some question in similar manners and I trolled her for whole years with many different ways.

So I was drama queen since young age πŸ’…πŸ½. I also made sure that I had to get revenge on her and did government exams (to not redo the year) and started college one year earlier. But I am sad that I didn’t went through the court.

Maybe in the 90s. Nowadays your chances of being in actual jail for something that could have less than than one year's term are pretty minimal (you'd have be be considered a huge risk for some reason).

Also it's extremely rare to end up in jail and then not get convicted in ex-USSR in general. By the time they arrest you, they typically have a pretty strong case (or everyone involved has been sufficiently paid off), and the only question is the term.

It's true in the sense that it's only for cases they choose to indict. Which is very low.

They aren't tortuing people to get confessions to put away innocents, they're just too lazy to work for a case that isn't handed to them on a silver platter.
