Okay r-slur heres the reasoning. Only one of them killed anyone. Nobody gets punished for a crime they didnt commit. If you are supporting attempt to kill being given the same punishment as kill then at that point you might as well unironically start saying words are violence.

Also mayday mayday the rightoid was the mod all along.

Unironically: why?

If I got a gun and shot someone then what happens after I pull the trigger isn't down to me anymore. The act and intent is the same regardless outcome.

Should the law look at me better if I happen to try and kill someone near a major trauma center with better surgeons?

It's always seemed a bit odd to me.

Yes because ethics dictates that a part of the punishment is determined by actual harm caused.

To explain it better let's take a more extreme hypothetical. Imagine someone planning to bomb a school but they are an rdrama user so they trip and shit themselves along the way instead. Now maybe it makes sense to charge them with terrorism but it makes no sense to charge them with murder even though the attempt was clearly there.

Tripping and pooping themselves is a bad analogy. Imagine if the bomb wouldn't go off because it broke, but the person pressed the button.

Also Ethics don't dictate that. You could just as well argue for ethics dictating minimizing future harm caused.

Yeah Norway does that minimizing future harm thing and they found out treating male feminists and murderers nice in jail creates less future male feminists and murderers than following our animal instincts to cause harm to those who mean us harm

I'm more partial towards execution to have 0% chance, but this seems nice too
