There's actually a lot of biblical references to people being able to recognise others by sight. In the book of Genesis, when Joseph's brothers came to Egypt to buy grain, Joseph recognised them immediately (Gen. 42:8). Also, when Jesus was transfigured on the mountain, Moses and Elijah were recognised by Peter, James, and John (Matt. 17:4). So, it's not really that far-fetched that people from Two Rivers would be able to recognise each other by sight.
