Anyway, how was voting (if you're doing it on the day)? What result are you expecting? What result do you want?

Tales from the voting booth:

Hello dramasisters, behold the tales from my middle to upper-middle class suburb in Victoria. Nothing too crazy but had a few fun ones.

  • A known r-slur in our neighbourhood got his ballot and walked straight out with it.

  • Multiple people asking what a constitution is.

  • A couple people started filling in the ballot in front of me thinking that i was gonna tell them what to write.

  • One dude came in and found out his brother had come in and voted for him earlier in the day.

  • Someone else wrote c*nt all over the booth and the booth had to be taken down.

  • Lots of old/middle-aged wogs subtly chudding out to me ("Common sense to vote no", "nah frick em", "when my papou+yia yia, came over..." etc.)

  • Had to tell voters that if they made a mistake they could come back to get a new ballot. One voter replied "how do you frick up one word?" Had a bit of a laugh with him.

  • The No campaign scrutineer initially looked worried as the Yes stack was quite big, in the end our area went for No 51% to 48%. Yes lady looked dejected especially with the flood of results from their campaign chat.

  • Didn't find the marsey vote :marseyitsover:

  • Snags cost $3.5, absolutely mental. At least the lines went quickly for the voting.

That mostly covers it. I'll try and think of any others but mostly comfy day chilling and getting some coin.

"how do you frick up one word?

The vote of a man who can frick up a single word counts the same as your vote.

there's some schizo who messages one of my friends often. Apparently he voted Yes and then voted Yes again on his mum's ballot.

Yeah it's not widespread at all (1 guy out of 1500 people), but still concerning that there's not really a check against it. If we didn't have mandatory voting it would be very easy to brute force a result. At least with the current system, it's harder to not raise a red flag (if you were systematically double voting)

mandatory voting seems like it has enough benefits that it removes the real incentive to deal with shit like voter fraud.
