Is the Chinese navy effective? Think most if not all of their subs are diesel powered so think they're lagging behind.

It's not really that the Chinese navy is all that effective, it's that the Chinese have heavily invested in area of denial weapons to hold off a US intervention for likely weeks if it works as expected.
So the navy might not be that effective, but the navy backed by swarms of anti-ship ballistic missiles is.

Also I'd like to point out the west in general seriously underestimates how important Taiwan is to Chinese nationalism and their identity, I find it VERY hard to believe that if their area of denial tactics aren't as effective as expected and the US does manage to intervene quickly, they're just going to take their ball and go home.
Taiwan knows they can't win, but they know they can make mainland China bleed with missile attacks on dams and such.

A few months back, a young actor in bollywood roped(or not?). His uncle was a politician and he alleged he was murdered, for knowing things about local politicians. There were irregularities, tbf. And his gf prob was complicit if it was murder. Plus she withdrew money from his accounts after his death which was pretty bad in itself. But then they found out that the gf smoked pot. And so did her family. All their text records were leaked. And that became 90% of convo around this potential massive politician-police-bollywood nexus story. Very convenient for all those groups.
