I have been meaning to ask. The Jannies realise the search indicator doesn't work right? :marseyhmm:

I mean is it just there for show? I usually have to press enter on my keypad for it to work. Touching the search icon doesn't work.

Skill issue

Or do you mean

Inexplicably

For whatever reason

That you are trying to click the magnifying glass instead of pressing enter/search

That you are trying to click the magnifying glass instead of pressing enter

I'm referring to that. I thought that was a standard feature on websites.

Inexplicably

:marseywtf2: Go to reddit and click the magnifying glass and it works. I just checked a couple of blogs and sites to see if I'm not crazy :marseymeds: and it worked there too.

Why would you lift your finger from the keyboard up more than half a screen away to tap the magnifying glass instead of just hitting the fricking enter key on the keyboard you're using

Habit. You're used to hitting "comment" "Post" on websites after typing something out. So it carries over to searches. I assume it's a common function on all websites for a reason. I mean, it's not a big deal. No need to seethe.

!codecels. Thoughts? Is this an inexplicable/stupid expectation? :marseythinkorino:

Realistically I assume he'll make the magnifying glass clickable once he sees this

But until then I am going to defend it like there's no tomorrow

Your inefficient boomer usage of your phone is not a UX issue here :tayaaa:

it's not an entirely unreasonable expectation given that clickable search icons slowly replaced discrete "search" buttons in most places, but you're still an r-slur for posting about it

The main reason I posted about it is because I associate the search icon being useless with crappy blogs :marseydisgust: . It reflects poorly on the site more than the fat black woman banners.

Thoughts? Is this an inexplicable/stupid expectation

yes it's a stupid expectation but consistent UX language in the last decade has informed that expectation and devs are expected to conform to such "standards" :marseywoozy:

I'm going to assume the codecels agreeing with me here are correct and you're just ignorant :marseyindignant:.

spent 1050 currency on pings

I've gained nearly 50K from goombling from the past week. When you make easy coins, this becomes nothing :marseysmug2:.

Sites should support both, a form without submission controls (unless it auto-submits like instant search) is stupid. The accessibility is horrible and it's just confusing in general.

You are right, and stuff like this is important for powerusers (not in the rdrama sense, just people with basic computer literacy)

And they probably meant to implement at some point and kinda just forgot since everyone presses enter anyway.

It's more convenient on mobile tbqh. It also feels a bit too amateurish to leave it like that. Like some of those scammy blogs that the owner hadn't even bothered to fully build.

@A and @VEGETA. This site is phoneposting misic.

It's easier for me on the desktop because one of my fingers is near either one of the enter keys anyway. I don't even think about it. Search+enter is muscle memory at this point.

Same with submitting stuff with ctrl+enter (that was one of my suggestions :marseysmug2:)

No, you're just r-slurred.

I've always wondered why GUIs become shit over time, and it's from implementing pointless features that some r-slurs babble on about.

You will never be fully vaccinated. You will never be on the correct formulation, you will never have the correct dose, you will never be on the correct manufacturer. You may have gotten a booster shot but all of that can change on a political whim and now you are a plague rat and crude mockery of nature's perfection. All the β€œvalidation” you get for your Fauci Ouchie on social media is two-faced and half-hearted. Behind your back people mock you and take bets on how soon you're going to die. Your employer has taken a million-dollar life insurance policy out on you and implores you to get one more booster. And even when you do, you will still never be fully vaccinated. Your parents are disgusted and ashamed of you, your β€œfriends” laugh at your sickly appearance, your clammy pale greasy skin, and your coal black glassy meth addict looking vaccine eyes behind closed doors. Your parents will find you, heartbroken but relieved at the six-figure settlement they're offered in return for telling everyone you died of natural causes or covid-19. And that it was your fault because you were not fully vaccinated. They'll bury you with a headstone marked with your false cause of death, and even though you took the vaccine, and you took the booster shots, every passer-by for the rest of eternity will know that it was your fault for not being vaccinated. Your body will decay and go back to the dust, and all that will remain of your legacy is a skeleton that is unmistakably unvaccinated. This is your fate. This is what you chose. There is no turning back.
