Sorry but the last post actually has value. Econometric forecast is done on a long term basis and those sets of data when categorized by the academics into usable data is really good.

Other than that all the papers mentioned are trash.

Pareto efficiency holds true

Edit: Before the Edit, the last one was the grain trade paper

The existence of high frequency trading and well paying jobs in that field almost makes me almost go communist out of spite. They are clearly providing no value to society at all. I can't fathom how people cry about bitcoins when we will waste some of our brightests minds on shit like this

The morale for healthcare workers is probably r-slurred but its a real problem. However, all these end up pushing is a new mission statement about how great it is to work for a company that will steal every second of your time possible.

But it's about 'moral' harm, as in presumably the healthcare workers having to do things for their job against their personal, nonreligious beliefs. Covid is mentioned, so I'm wondering if it's about them being upset about having to treat the unvaccinated, things like that.

Yeah complaining about relevant economic studies is a bit silly. Especially when those century old economic conditions can still appear today (times of war or remote parts of Asia, or just normal life in Africa).

Jump in the discussion.

Is it an economic study though? It's from the history department.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Depends on how well designed it was. Economics, history, and economic history are overlapping subjects. If they're using 800 year old order forms to track grain output and flow, it's economics to me.

When have economists ever correctly predicted anything?

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Happens literally all the time. The only thing is governments trying to unmake reality with their own versions of truth. Every economics catastrophe has happened either because the government took stupid decisions (Zimbabwe, Argentina etc) or a public frenzy where everyone wanted to gamble, which, again, the governments are afraid of shutting down (even after getting warned by economists) until it's too late because they are afraid of being perceived as negative nellys.

Why aren't economists super rich from playing the stock market then?

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Economists can see and chalk out the pattern of investment, credit and money supply in the economy

They can't predict which way Apple is going to go. Even you and I can see when too much froth in the market is making speculations go wild. It would be very true if we predicted the market can't hold this and will go down in 1-2 years.

But you can't short 1,000,000 with a margin of 500,000 because you can't sustain those margin calls when market sentiments still remain high for another 6 months

Plenty of them are. Look at Jim Simons or even your average prop trading shop (though it's mostly physicists and mathematicians instead of economists, but the ideas are very similar).

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Nah, we don't need insider info to make money. Also we don't trade stuff that's accessible to normies, or at least not normies which aren't able to deliver 2,000,000 bushels of soft red wheat by next Friday if called upon.

I agree, it's the most 'useful'-sounding one, and I presume the cost she mentions isn't just for that one study. But if it is, nearly ยฃ900k for it sounds ludicrous.

Oh, it is for just that one study. Then yes, I get that it seems far too expensive.
