It sucks because the intro course is probably 5% of the content but I cant get past that part.

I was just looking stuff up to share a link in this thread and was reminded that The Headless Way isn't something Sam Harris developed. Maybe he's just not explaining it in a way that everyone can understand.

Going to listen to this over lunch and see if it helps.

This entire weird passage is anti-human. Your head is spiritually important. I have a feeling this shit will deplete your will and make you passive, more susceptible to influences.

I have other issues with that "into the world", "seeker" thing, but nothing concrete, it gives me bad feelings forca bunch of reasons.

I think he's getting at the idea that your "head" and "you" are not an external entity from the rest of the world. Everything you experience and understand takes place in your consciousness. If you weren't conscious you'd experience nothing. So the feeling of being an observer or separate from others and the world around you is at odds with the fact that everything you perceive and interact is done so in your consciousness.

Or something I clearly don't get it.

And doesn't consciousness exist for us because of the organ in our head that we apparently don't have?
