I've actually thought about this topic quite often and this comment I think is a great way to justify the thought.

If there won't even be the sense of time during which it happens, then, will it ever truly happen?

To me the definition of death as absolute nothingness seems awfully close to saying that death never happens at all. Total non existence seems self negating to me...
