Male health advocate wonders if we gave women too many rights

https://old.reddit.com/r/malementalhealth/comments/1c8lts9/why_is_dating_so_much_harder_now_than_in_the_past/?sort=controversial

Why is dating so much harder now than in the past? What Changed?

Was dating just as hard 40 years ago?

Is it that women work and have careers now so they aren't reliant on men? When less women worked, their life was dependent on looking pretty and finding a man. Now they can support themselves. Is that why it's impossible to find dates?

Finding out what changed in that time may help point to a solution to the male loneliness epidemic that is really hurting men right now. Men used to be the gatekeepers for relationships but now women have that and they are being withholding and borderline cruel. It is really damaging men and I think we need to come up with why it happened and how to solve it.

The truth is β€œhard to get” works on everyone and any woman telling you to act like a simp isn't giving real advice. I would only give decent advice. You SHOULD act gentlemanly (polite, good manners, over the top and bring flowers), the whiplash of being a perfect gentleman + unavailable is crack to women. Like… bring her (cheap) flowers EVERY time you see her and write her a haiku or smth but don't answer texts for 12 hours.

You don't even understand that its about getting your foot in the door first, its no good if the door is slammed shut every time you try. Women can't even comprehend that part, you just jump straight to dating/courting.

Its really fricking simple:

1. Find someone who is passionate about you (since a relationship wont last without passionate fricking)

2. Make sure that person is also willing to put up with duty and boring maintenance in the day to day

3. Never let the passion die out, never stop carrying out relationship maintenance.

It really is that simple, the hard part imo is finding someone who is actually mentally stable enough to be willing to do maintenance and duty.
